Slipping and Sliding

You've probably noticed that Shamballa bracelets (or at least lookie-likey ones) are EVERYWHERE at the moment. So I decided that I would have a go at making them and actually they are quite simple! I had a tutorial from a magazine but I actually found some easier instructions in a book I'd had for years. This is the book:

But the bit I've had some trouble with is the slidy clasp bit:

I think this could be because I've been using hemp rather than a cord, and hemp being natural isn't smooth which means when you're trying to tighten or loosen the bracelet it catches, as opposed to sliding smoothly like the cord ones. To prove (or disprove) my theory I'm going to go buy some cord and experiment. I'll report back to you on how that goes!
